MARGARETVILLE, N.Y., April 21, 2017– A selection of pastels on paper by Shandaken artist Faye Storms is on view through the end of June at the Catskill Watershed Corporation (CWC) offices, 905 Main Street, Margaretville.
The public is welcome to visit weekdays from 8 to 4:30.
Storms’ earth-toned landscapes reflect the colors and moods of changing hour and weather. The artist is especially drawn to clouds – frothy white against a deep blue sky, pink and yellow at the height of a golden sunset, ominously shadowed with the approach of a storm.
Faye Storms has been drawing and painting since she was 5 years old. Her father was a weekend artist and her great-great-grandmother, a noted oil painter, was the first woman photographer in New York State.
At the age of 20, Storms had a one-woman show at Madison Square Garden Art Gallery. The recipient of awards and scholarships over the years, she has exhibited in galleries in Woodstock, Phoenicia, Saugerties, Stone Ridge, Margaretville and Kingston.
Storms and her husband opened The Blue Barn antiques emporium near Phoenicia 39 years ago. She is also an Associate Broker at Ruth Gale Realty, Director of The Ulster County Board of Realtors and Councilwoman for the Town of Shandaken.
The CWC is a non-profit, Local Development Corporation responsible for several environmental protection, economic development and education programs in the New York City Watershed West of the Hudson River.
