Welcome to the CWC Blog: Telling the Story of the Catskills Watershed
If you’ve heard of the Catskill Watershed Corporation (CWC), chances are you’ve heard about one of our programs.
Maybe it was septic system assistance. Perhaps you’ve launched a kayak on a reservoir, benefited from an economic development grant, or attended one of our community events.
What many people don’t realize is just how much work happens behind the scenes to support and strengthen the communities of the Catskills.
The CWC serves 41 towns, 8 villages, and thousands of residents, businesses, and visitors across the New York City Watershed west of the Hudson River. Our work spans environmental protection, economic development, infrastructure improvements, education, recreation, workforce development, and community resilience.
That’s a big story to tell.
This new blog is our way of telling the full story of the CWC, the people we serve and sharing educational information on all things Watershed related!
Here, you’ll find updates on projects happening throughout the Watershed, stories from local communities, highlights from the people and businesses we serve, insights into our programs, and a closer look at how investments made today are helping shape a stronger Catskills for future generations.
We’ll share milestones, celebrate successes, answer common questions, and shine a spotlight on the remarkable people, organizations, and communities that make this region such a special place to live, work, and visit.
Whether you’re a homeowner, business owner, elected official, community partner, outdoor enthusiast, or simply someone who cares about the future of the Catskills, we hope you’ll find something here that informs, inspires, and connects you to the work taking place across our region.
Thank you for joining us as we begin this new chapter.
We look forward to sharing the stories that keep the Catskills flowing.
