A Year of Investing in Our Watershed Communities

There is a lot to celebrate in the Catskill and Delaware Watershed Communities!

Over the past year, the Catskill Watershed Corporation has invested more than $20 million in the people, places, and projects that make this region strong. From residential septic improvements and civic infrastructure projects to workforce development, education initiatives, and economic development opportunities, these investments reflect a shared commitment to protecting our environment while helping our communities thrive.

The impact of this work stretches across five counties—Delaware, Greene, Schoharie, Sullivan, and Ulster—and reaches 41 towns and 8 villages throughout the Watershed region. Every grant awarded, every project completed, and every partnership formed represents an investment in the long-term health and vitality of the Catskills.

On Tuesday, July 14, community leaders, elected officials, partners, and residents will gather at CWC’s Annual Meeting to reflect on the year behind us and look ahead to the opportunities before us.

This year, we made the decision to move our Annual Meeting to July to make it easier for state leadership to attend and engage directly with the communities they serve. It creates a unique opportunity for town supervisors, mayors, county representatives, and state officials to connect with one another and gain a deeper understanding of both the challenges and successes shaping the Watershed today.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet with representatives from the Catskill Watershed Corporation, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, and other key environmental organizations working together to protect our water resources while supporting the people who call this region home.

As the Catskills continue to evolve—with rising tourism, renewed interest in rural living, and growing demand for community investment—the work of balancing environmental stewardship with economic vitality has never been more important.

The Annual Meeting is more than a review of the year’s accomplishments. It is a reminder of what is possible when communities, agencies, and partners come together with a shared purpose.

Whether you’ve partnered with CWC for years or are just beginning to learn about our work, we invite you to be part of the conversation. The future of our Watershed communities is something we all have a role in shaping.

We hope you’ll join us as we celebrate what we’ve achieved together and explore what’s next for the Catskill and Delaware Watersheds.
